C65

The C65 from Faratronic is a cylindrical aluminum-case AC motor capacitor, known in the market as the CBB65, with an explosion-proof design for compressors and larger single-phase motors. It uses metallized polypropylene film with self-healing behaviour and stable capacitance, and the aluminum cylinder gives a rugged part with good heat transfer and a long life, built to the GB/T3667.1 standard equivalent to IEC 60252-1. The series covers roughly 4 uF to 100 uF at 250 Vac to 450 Vac for 50 Hz or 60 Hz operation, which fits refrigeration and air-conditioning compressors, larger pumps and motors that carry a higher continuous current than a fan motor. The anti-explosion case adds a pressure-disconnect mechanism: if the internal pressure rises, the case deforms and opens the connection, so the capacitor fails safe rather than venting or bursting, which is why the style is preferred where a fault must not damage the equipment. The metal case also handles the vibration of a compressor better than a plastic box. These capacitors are used in air conditioners, refrigerators, heat pumps and industrial pumps.
